Taiwan’s economy is based principally around the IT & Telecommunications and Semiconductor industries, with Banking & Financial Services, Professional Services, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Goods industries also well represented. Most Taiwan HR Heads report into ‘Greater China’ sub-regional headquarters in China or directly into Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore or Hong Kong.

Because Taiwan used to be the Greater China hub for many multinationals, internationally-minded HR talent here tends to be well regarded on the regional stage, and top Taiwanese HR practitioners will often be found in Shanghai, Beijing, and further afield. However, many of the HR roles now existing in Taiwan tend to be domestically focused and small in scope, so in recent times the local market has not created as many HR practitioners who can easily adapt to more sophisticated international HR standards.
